A Happy New year to all our lovely friends, supporters and readers. I hope this year is kind to you and brings you peace and happiness. It’s all systems go here at Reuben’s Retreat and this week begins with our first start up meeting for phase one. This week we meet with our design team and construction company CityBuild to inspect the lodge before work commences this month. Exciting, daunting and rewarding times ahead as we aim to open within a year of purchasing our property. This is only phase 1 and we have many more phases and years to go before we will be fully functional and operational. I would like to thank everyone that has helped us reach this stage, many who have given their time, expertise, talent and energy voluntarily. Spending many hours working towards the goal of opening our bereavement counselling support centre. I would like to thank our trusted friend and Project Manager for the build, Jon Campbell. I would like to thank Darren our QS from CCM and Robert from Living City for putting all the integral pieces in place. I would like to thank Jonathan from Green PM, our talented Bill Jennings from JDA architecture and team. Also to thank are our structural and mechanical engineers Steven Hunt and Lee Coverley. We also have been blessed with great interior and visual talent from our friends and support Katie and Paul. Keen eyes, superb talent and generous hearts all bringing together phase one. This is where your hard earned and fund raised pennies are going Ladies and Gentlemen with more to come as we then move towards our big build. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those that support our advertising too, be it in our magazine, or with another magazine that kindly supports our work.. Many local publications have held and continue to hold adverts for our cause for no fee and we really appreciate their support around our region too, thank you. On another hairy note, we would like to offer our thanks to Dave and his fundraising efforts with his page and quest “Dont shave Dave” raising in excess of £600 after he had his beard removed, a whole year of not shaving. Dave and his beard past and present can be seen on his facebook page of the same name. Another big thank you and great effort from GYMETC who are rowing for Reuben until March with a incredible target in place. You can see them this week in Tesco Stalybridge on the 9th and 10th. Next week we hold another pamper day for our beneficiaries and I look forward to that very much. We have now supported over 93 families in less than 2 years. We need you more than ever and are so grateful for every ounce of support that you give. Thank you.
