12 Oct – Today we had our first ever pamper day for Mummies

Today was a very special day.

Today we had our first ever pamper day for Mummies.

A few weeks ago we met with two lovely Ladies that lead the ISCAN team for Tameside. They have over 800+ children from 0-19yrs in their care. All with additional needs. Some with severe life limiting and life threatening needs.

We discussed the support that would help them with their families and we drew up a list with how Reuben’s Retreat could help.

Lots on the list, we have started to support many local families as well as across the UK.

Today was a day that we planned those weeks ago and it was very special.

Our Mummies arrived mid morning and were treated to a meditation to set the mood and energy for the few hours ahead. Then they were treated to the pamper sessions they fancied including, hand and foot pampers, reiki, indian head massage and a cosy chat with our fabulous counsellor Denice.

Supported by their team, I thank Dawn and Karen for finding us and for allowing us to be part of something so special.

Arranged at the Seraphina centre, the mood was lovely, the rooms sounded great and the smell was calming.

The mummies had tea and cakes, bubbles and buffet and lots of chat and chill.

Thank you Anna, Sue, Claire, Auntie Rach, and Denice for your time volunteered today. And thank you Sue for arranging the beautiful “end of the rainbow” cupcakes and for donating your fabulous Unicorn suite.

Thank you to all that made it possible. A fabulous few hours.

Words from Anna sum it up;-
“Sometimes in life I lose a bit of faith and then I experience days like today. I have been part of the magic of Reuben’s retreat today”

Anna said that she felt like her soul had been fed today with goodness……

After packing up, me and Rach met the family for Sunday dinner at Mum’s. After dinner a ladybird flew in to say “hello”. A little note from Reuben no doubt, to say thank you……

Today I am exhausted, but I feel lifted.

This is just the beginning……..
