The Advertiser has transformed and has now become ” Manchester weekly news” and our column serves the homes across Tameside and Oldham……..
Here is our latest column
Here at Reuben’s Retreat we are delighted to receive the ongoing support from the Manchester Evening News Group and to have our column featured in the new Manchester Weekly News.
A warm welcome to any new readers of our column and if you would like to know more about us please follow our twitter @reubensretreat, like our Facebook page Reubens Retreat, and read all about us atwww.reubensretreat.org
Reuben’s Retreat is a charity founded in memory of my son who moved to heaven in August 2012. It will be a home from home for children with severe life limiting and life threatening illness a place to holiday at with their families.
We are still a long way off opening the retreat itself for which we need to raise another £2 million and renovations will take us around 3-5 years However in two years & seven months we have raised our 1st million, supported 125 families and purchased our retreat situated in parkland in Glossop
Our thanks this week go to Liz Forbes for supporting this column, Dave for his retirement party donations in lieu of gifts, Holme village near the Lake district and my friend Sharon, St John Fisher primary school in Wythenshawe, St Mary’s in Dukinfield and the following locations for their support with our pots, Wagon and Horses Mottram road, Commercial Inn and Pico lounge in Glossop.
Support is very much needed welcomed and appreciated and this week we are looking for some white goods? Can you help us source a 900mm range cooker? Fridge freezer and dishwasher. Please get in touch and call us on 01457 680023 if you can help.
Phase one is well underway and this week the upper brickwork and steels were put into place for our extension. Phase one should be open this Summer and will serve as our counselling support centre. Helping Mummies, Daddies and siblings cope with their own “miss” after the loss of a child.
We hope you all had a nice break and managed to find some quality time to reflect and make happy memories with those close to you.
I will be taking some time out to relax and recharge (our charity motto), and look forward to taking a break. You too could look at taking a hard earned rest with www.chooseacottage.co.uk/REU who support our work and donate 10% of your booking cost to us. It costs you nothing more to do this and last month we were grateful to receive 7 bookings and £500+ in donations.
If you’d like to support our cause, you can donate via our website or you can text donate to 70070 message: CAKE23 £3 or a similar amount.
Thank you and your support is very much appreciated
Our first weeks column in the new paper was scripted slightly differently as we hit homes of Oldham for the first time
