Another crazy and manic week at RRHQ and beyond….
We naively thought that January would be the month in which we could catch our breath and plan for 2015… but January has other ideas for us…..
The week has been full of meetings, talks, plans, and build news…
Today was a lovely day for lots of different reasons.
It started beautifully as I was honoured to be a guest at St Herberts school to receive a cheque from the fabulous children. Moved by their songs, prayers and hymns, another beautiful school supporting our much needed work. GREAT to see you all and THANK YOU ALL for being a part of Reuben’s new journey….
Then, this afternoon in cahoots with one of our new vollies Katy, we planned a team afternoon out connecting with our new friends and neighbours in the fabulous town of Glossop, soon to be a new home for us. We all met up at church and visited the resting place of some very important people of the town. Without these incredible and generous hearted people, our retreat would look very different. We took a few moments to pay our respects and then we joined 2 lovely Ladies from a local history group in connection with the U3A. They shared their knowledge of the “Woods” family and that of Lord Howard of Glossop. They also shared stories of the time they worked at our property in the 60’s and 70’s and of some of the history the building has seen and experienced.
Then off to “Old Glossop” to meet Mike Harding from Glossop heritage to hear all about the industrial revolution and what changes the town had experienced over the years. We walked and talked around the village and he shared many stories and photographs.
Frozen to the bone, there was only one place to finish…..
We all piled into “The Wheatsheaf” for plate pies and warm drinks. Finishing off our day perfectly.
THANK YOU to all that made today happen and for being a part of Reuben’s new journey!
Today we took steps to get to know our new land, the home of Reuben’s legacy.
Sunday we embark on more work with our beneficiaries.
Forever grateful,
Always
Mummy
