This weeks “Manchester weekly news” serving the homes of Tameside and beyond……….
What another incredible week for Reubens Retreat kicking off with the most amazing day in Manchester on Sunday the 10th of May. An incredibly emotional day for us as a family for many reasons – the day marked 10 years since Mikes dad moved to heaven age 52 from pancreatic cancer.
Also Isaac ran in the mini run in memory of his little brother and Daddy and Auntie Rach joined our headstrong team of nearly 300 runners at the Manchester 10k.
Our city swelled with pride you could not help but absorb the incredible atmosphere. Over 35,000 runners ran for charity each holding their own story of purpose, to have so many run for Reuben meant that we were truly humbled by such generous spirit. We want to thank each and every runner, their family and support and all who donated.
I have never seen Isaac hold so much pride before in his little face and he has pledged to run again next year. It was also a great day for Daddy who beat his personal best and came in at under one hour.
If you would like to run next year please call the office on 01457680023 or email email@example.com
We would like to thank The Great Run Company, our incredible photographers Ben, Nigel and Steven for capturing the memories, our wonderful patrons Ian and Julie whom without our journey would be very different, our very own “Elvis” Darren, Kerry and all the staff at The Virgin Money Lounge in Manchester, our amazing runners, our volunteers, Sally Anne and Lynne for looking after our runners and volunteers, those who travelled great distances to join us, the BBC for coverage, Broadbottom Cricket Club for hosting us after the 10k and Tesco Hattersley for supplying high calorie food for our runners.
Every year the run just gets better and better and we are astounded by your love and support, we truly are – Thank you.
Also this week big thanks to the lovely call received from all Saints Dukinfield, our champs of the month musical friends, Woodford court social fund, Paul for his sausage rolls and sponsor monies, Lydia’s donation for selling her wool dollies, Denton golf club for their charity golf day , students of Buxton for their bag pack and the ladies of Mottram WI.
This week good luck to Chris Etchells and the team at OZ fitness that are taking on the Hellish Challenge.
A quick update on phase one, we are looking for two solid wood external doors, a cooker, fridge freezer and dishwasher if any companies would like to support and donate.
And finally but by no means least this week we are excited to join Her Royal Highness at Buckingham Palace representing Reuben’s Retreat at her garden party. More on that to come and some beautiful sharing stories next week.
Have a great week everyone
