Well …… I did it, I ran my first Marathon. I had a huge smile on my face the whole way round, I couldn’t believe I was there, me, with all the runners and the crowds shouting encouragement. I knew it was going to hurt, I was prepared for t…hat, what I wasn’t prepared for was the mental race, trying to stay positive and focused for 26.2 miles, to be honest I probably had a little help from heaven on that score!! I remember passing mile 20 thinking this is it, this is officially the furthest I’ve ever ran and there is only 6 miles left, that’s a 10K, I can do that!! I feel such a sense of achievement, I am made of tough stuff after all!!! I wish with all my heart that circumstances were different, I miss Reuben very much and would do anything to have him back, but, as Nic often says we have to roll with it. So helping out with the charity and running for Reuben is how I roll. Needless to say that the little chap was a powerful force yesterday, I really thought I would be overwhelmed by the whole experience but in fact when I needed to the most I held it together, I never doubted myself and just kept running, singing that little song from Finding Nemo, Just keep running, running, running, what do we do we…. Hopefully most of you know what I’m talking about!! And just to top off an amazing day, I saw two rainbows from the train window on the way home!! The official ballot for the Virgin London Marathon opens next Monday, they stop taking entries at 100,000 and you find out in October if you’ve got a place. So even if you are only slightly tempted enter the ballot anyway, see if you get a place and run for Reuben next year, it is the most amazing experience, I feel honoured to have done it. I would really like to say a huge thank you to Nic, Mike, Isaac, Ali and the trustees for allowing me the opportunity to run for Reuben at the VLM, it is an experience I will never forget and am so very proud to have done it in Reuben’s name. I would also like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone that has supported me, sponsored me and offered me advice and encouragement along the way. Without you I would not have raised a whopping £2300 for RR. I officially have PRIDE IN MY STRIDE, although today my stride is more of a shuffle. Thanks again, you are all amazing
