On behalf of all the team, this week we wish HRH Queen Elizabeth a very happy and special 90th birthday. No doubt we will toast her when we celebrate my Mum, Elizabeth’s birthday this Thursday too. Happy Birthday Mum from all of us.
This weekend also marks year 2 of us owning our Retreat on St George’s day the 23rd of April. In the last 2 years we have completed phases 1 and 2 of a multi million pound 10 phase project. Next month we embark on phase 3, the roof, expected to take around 16 weeks to renovate.
We have just finished up the Easter holidays and have returned from an exciting adventure with Isaac. Bathing elephants, attending cookery school, snorkelling and riding on tuk tuk’s are just a few of the fabulous experiences that he has written of in his journal. We really wanted to take him on a special trip and he had a great time. We also know that Reuben wasn’t far away, as we landed in Bangkok and our luggage awaited us on carousel number 23.
It is great to be back, I love my work and on Sunday we held another special day for some of our families. Serene Sunday catered to 6 new Mummies and they were looked after by Hayley, Wendy, Kath, Sheryl, Katy, Jacqui, Denice and Sophie, whom all volunteered their time, skills and wonderful energies, thank you Ladies. Also thank you to the Cafe Seraphina for hosting a beautiful lunch and Mari B and the Ladies from St Lukes in Glossop for baking the most beautiful cakes. Talking of cakes and Cafe Seraphina, they are currently selling angel cake with 23p of every slice donated to Reuben’s Retreat. It is scrummy and they are making their way through a whole cake a day, it is proving to be popular.
Cake will be the order of the day this Sunday, when our fabulous runners “Carb up” for the London marathon – Good Luck to Chris, Collette, Dan and Angus as they take this challenge on this Sunday. Thank you team, for all you do and more, you are awesome!
Wedding congratulations this week to Simon and Katy Taylor from Birkenshaw who married in Cuba and rather than have a gift list, requested donations to Reuben’s Retreat. What generous hearts they have. We wish them well on their new journey and hope that it is filled with sunshine and laughter.
Thank you to Nita and Janette too, we look forward to being involved with the soroptimists.
