Yesterday at 10am, over 200 lovely, warm, kind and caring family and friends came together to remember a special little man…. “Remembering Reuben”.
As it was a bank holiday and in the middle of Summer holidays, many couldn’t make it. Thank you for your messages, cards, flowers and love.
Many travelled far and we are so very grateful to you.
James welcomed everyone to church and on arrival Maureen and Adj had kindly provided over 100 white flowers, and everyone was asked to come forward and place their flowers in the butterfly basket starting with Isaac. As they walked up, our incredible “Musical friends” sang, Godspeed little man, Somewhere over the rainbow and Sleep tonight. The church was filled with incredible song, amazing voices and love in abundance. Then Daddy Mike was invited to speak and spoke of his love for Reuben and of his MISS. Our musical friends were then invited to sing “high” and the words were in Mike’s speech now adorn the beautiful bookmark designed by Carole as a keepsake. Then I spoke of Reuben’s lasting legacy his charity and how much we had all achieved in the last 12 months and of my thanks to Isaac, our rock, for all he does. This led nicely to Reuben’s new video courtesy of Ben Cambridge and chicken coop productions, “one year on”, if you haven’t see it already, you can find it on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_86XPoR9EDY. All things bright and beautiful was sung and James rounded off the service with lovely words, THANK YOU JAMES, for your love, compassion and support!
We then made our way to Reuben’s garden as friends had brought lovely plants, flowers and floral tributes. More words were spoken of wishes made to butterflies and sent to the heavens. Isaac’s message to heaven was “ I love you Reuben, Mummy & Daddy love you Reuben, please take care of the butterflies and of Reuben dear God.Com”. I then opened the most beautiful ribbon wrapped box holding a photograph of Reuben and we released 23 butterflies to mark Reuben’s 23 loved and cherished months with us. They were tame, and lots of the children got to handle them.
Then off to the cricket club ( Thank you Mottram cricket club & Jane) to Pies !!! – THANK YOU Simon! And CAKES………
Thank you to all that attended and made it so very special for us.
Now back to it, as our aim is to reach the half million for Reuben’s birthday (10 Sept)
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend.
“If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first
Capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.
As a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not
Reveal the wish to anyone but the great spirit
Who hears and sees all.
In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom,
The wish will be taken to the heavens to be granted.”
