” Manchester weekly news” serving homes across Tameside and Oldham.
As you are probably aware, I type up our column a couple of days before it goes to print. Usually from the office on a Monday. Today I type on a Sunday and I am sat in the most beautiful hotel in Winchester. Having never visited this beautiful City before, Mike chose it for its location. As tomorrow morning we drive to Southampton docks as we are guests on behalf of our charity aboard “Anthem of the seas” Royal Caribbean’s latest and newest addition to its incredible fleet.
I am looking forward to experiencing this fine vessel and also catching up with friends and travel industry colleagues. A fine industry that continues to support our cause.
We have had a busy weekend and it all started out in Chadderton on Friday night as family and friends all came together to remember a lovely lady, Lenice. A memorial concert organised by our musical friends was very fitting to a wonderful lady. We all have a great night and the talent was fantastic. Raising the roof once more, our charitable friends raised in excess of £1500. We also got the opportunity to meet and thank in person, Peter and friends and Sharon who had her hair shaved for Reuben. Magnificent support.
Some of our support go unnoticed and with few announcements and this week I would like to thank our fantastic print team in Hyde who have supported us for nearly 2 years now, they are Zipp design and print and are behind all our wonderful literature that we share with you and also printers of the lovely Reuben swim photo that many of you take abroad and on your travels.
Thanks this week also to Travel Bag in Hendon London for their donation, Dukinfield Moravian church and all those that continue to support our charity pots.
Also great news, that Marks and Spencer in Glossop are about to support our cause too. Wonderful news.
Good luck this weekend to Denton golf club who are holding their club social’s raffle and also their Spring fair on Sunday from 2pm until 4pm.
This Sunday also sees us put together our first “Reuben’s Recharge, Serene Sunday’s” supporting our families from the Seraphina centre with our new drop in service.
Not long now until the Manchester 10k on the 10th of May when we will have well over 200+ runners turning the City REUBlue. Proudly cheering on, I hope you will wear you Reuben’s Retreat tee shirt with pride and come and join in the fun and soak up the incredible atmosphere.
Really proud to share that Isaac will be running the mini run for his Brother too and has already raised over £600 in less than 2 days. If you’d like to sponsor Isaac, you can text a donation to 70070 and the message is;- MISS53 £5 or similar – he would be really grateful. Although he reminds me that although he is running for his Brothers charity, he is also running to secure a gooey alien from Mum, Dad, Auntie Rach, Sam and Nannie.
On that note, we also wish Reuben’s Nannie Liz a happy birthday this week.
And before our column runs away with us, we wish with great cheer and pride our runners the very bestest of luck at this weekends London marathon, Jon, Sarah, Rachel, Chris and Lee, run like the wind and take good care.
And a big well done to Sharon and Jo who ran the Manchester marathon last Sunday.
Our supporters inspire us to continue Reuben’s incredible legacy.
Have a good week!
