Volunteers are absolutely integral to Reuben’s Retreat and without them we simply wouldn’t be where we are today. As Reuben’s Mummy always says, “Reuben’s Retreat will be built on an army of love and compassionate hearts”.
As the charity’s services grow and we progress with the renovations to our facilities, our voluntary opportunities too evolve. We have lots of tasks within our charity that we need help and support with and the following are just a few examples:
- Community Fundraisers – to help at local events, activities and bag-packs and to promote the charity
- Marketing support – are you a graphic designer and can donate some of your skills & talent?
- Gardening volunteers – to tend to our gardens on a weekly basis
Some roles are weekly, fortnightly and some are completely ad-hoc. We also have many events throughout the year that you can get involved in as standalone support with no further commitment needed.
If you would like to volunteer for Reuben’s Retreat please complete the Stage 1 and Stage 2 forms below, or contact us if you would like us to send you hard copies in the post. As always if you have any queries or would like to know more about the opportunities we have, please call on 01457 680023 or email volunteers@reubensretreat.org.

Keeping volunteering voluntary
As a charity we know and fully respect the value of volunteering. Volunteering means people independently choosing to give their time freely to help others and help make the world a better place. Workfare schemes for unemployed people to carry out unpaid work or face benefit sanctions that can cause hardship and destitution. We believe in keeping volunteering voluntary and will not participate in government workfare schemes.
Protecting our charity and you
In order to protect the charity, our beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters from fraudulent activities, we would ask that you report any suspicious activity (or anything that causes you the slightest concern) to us immediately.
“After I retired I had some spare time, I wanted to help Reuben’s Retreat as they are a local charity that means a lot to my family. I am now a volunteer handy-man – volunteering is good for the soul and I look forward to my volunteering every week I feel valued and part of the Reuben’s Retreat family” Chris Jones

HIE stands for hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, it is a lack of oxygen to the brain that can cause injury. Please read Sarah’s words below about her amazing little Heidi,…
