Good afternoon to our regular readers and hello to new friends!

In anticipation of the fabulous new facilities currently being created through Phase 4, 5 and 6 renovations and the stratospheric impact they’ll have on our services for children and young people, we are delighted to share that Sarah Leah has been appointed to the newly created role of Family Well-being & Support Lead. With her extensive clinical and operational experience working with children, young people and adults during her 25+ years in the healthcare sector, our beneficiaries couldn’t be in safer or more caring hands!

With Sarah completing her transition into the new role on the 1st June 2019, we are thrilled to welcome Stacey Kirkpatrick to our Team as our Senior Fundraiser!  Stacey (who has been fundraising for causes close to her heart for many years) started on Monday and it’s turning out to be one of our busiest weeks of the year but she’s still smiling and brimming with enthusiasm, phew!

With the building works on track (hooray!!), our attentions are now turning towards the interiors of the wing.  It’s so important that the various spaces are all warm and welcoming, but they’ve also got to be fun and appealing for the primary users which will be children and young people ranging from 0 to 25 years.  Thankfully we have Nicola and the super talented Katie working on them and they’ll no doubt create something that appeals to all with some lovely touches of character and Reuben’s magic.

Watch a hot-off-the-press time lapse of the works from the last few weeks below…

Mission 123 – just 12 days to go!

We are super proud and humbled by the amazing things people have been doing to make the most of their 123 days of FUNraising. You’ve been climbing Snowdon, running around Manchester, cycling from Lands’ End to John O’ Groats, holding family fun days, ebaying anything in sight, naming teddies and swimming, cycling and running all in one day just to support us. Thank you to each and every one of you taking part in this campaign, your efforts really are making a difference to the lives of children and young people and their families.

There are just 12 more days before the 123-day Mission comes to a close, so time for one final push! We’ll be back in touch soon regarding the Mission 123 awards evening…

Here at Reuben’s Retreat we do our best to help families with a child with an uncertain future to create and make magical memories and we regularly provide short family holidays around the UK.  We always look forward to seeing photos of our families having fun and capturing special times from the sea air whooshing through their hair to giggles and splashes in the pool, brief moments where laughter and fun is the focus.

Sadly, sometimes the children aren’t well enough to go on a break or even come to our family activities and parties because of immunity related conditions.  Whatever the challenges we will always find a way to help a family and we’ve achieved that this week with one super special little boy soon to receive his very own Brave Banana super hero outfit (thank you Fiona!), gifts from Hey Duggee and a little trip out too.

Thank you to everyone who helps us to bring a little magic to families lives…
